About Us

BIC thrives to meet its aims and objectives, which is to ‘Promote the well being of the local community and work towards lifelong learning for excellence’, particularly for the Bangladeshi Community, living within the North Smethwick and surrounding area.

BIC offers a range of services consisting of health advice, welfare rights advice, housing advice, advocacy service, employment and training advice, ESOL classes, youth activities, health events & workshops, drop in & open days, sports development, counselling, library, marriage registration, summer holiday play schemes, various health workshops, monthly smoking cessation clinics, diabetes sessions to name a few and also provide access to various voluntary & statutory agencies.

BIC employs a full time Centre Manager, Bangladeshi Women Development Coordinator (funded by the Big Lottery Fund), Male Health & Advice Worker (funded by Sandwell PCT), Programme Coordinator (funded by BBC Children in Need), Advice and Advocacy Worker, Youth Worker, Youth out reach Worker and four part-time workers.

BIC also has a number of volunteers, who support BIC activities on an ad hoc basis. BIC works closely with the council, health authority, voluntary and statutory organisation within Sandwell in order to enhance the quality of life and well being of the local Bangladeshi community.

    * To ensure the safety and well-being of the local Bangladeshi families.

    * Provide and interpreting and advocacy service for non-English speaking Bangladeshi
